La Quebrada Acapulco
|
If you visit Acapulco, on the coast of the Mexican Pacífico, it will not be able to stop going to La Quebrada, where the brave clifft divers defy to the danger jumping from the top of a rock projection to 35 meters of height; the difficulty of his exploit takes root in that they must synchronize his jump with the surge, provided that if they jump when the tide moves back they will not have time to turn in the water and will smash against the sea bed. When the surge is high, they have 6 m. Of water to turn and to go out to the surface; when the surge goes away, they are scarcely 4 meters...
The "trade" of clifft divers has more than four decades of history. The spectacle gives beginning from the ascent of theclifft diver, for between the natural cracks of the cliff, up to reaching the highest point of the crag, where there is located a sanctuary in which they pray before the jump; after this ritual, they happen to place in a small platform to a height of 35 meters, in which the clavadista must calculate the movement of the waves, the tide and the wind, choosing the moment adapted the clavadista to be thrown to the emptiness it does contact with the water in a time of 3 second, to a great speed.
This "show" can be attended in the evening, taking advantage of the putting of the Sun, and to the dusk, with a special lighting, where the clifft divers throw of one in one, in pairs and in groups of three, with torches lit to give him major embossment.
